Hi Nature Science Club Families,

Thanks for your patience while the Nature Science Club took a temporary hiatus during my graduation and job search.  Now that I am fully employed, we are discussing how to schedule another meeting of our club.  

If you are available to help in any way or just interested in meeting, let us know by comment to this post or email to trixibsmith@gmail.com and we will make plans for another event soon.

31st Meeting: Solar System & Stars 4.0

Our Agenda:
1. Gathering at the MSU Planetarium @ 1pm
2. Outdoors: Making a human walking/spinning solar system model & other outer-space themed games 
3. Indoors: Making Kid's Own Constellation Books & Snack (provide by Foods for Living)
4. Finding your way in the Michigan Night Sky @ MSU Planetarium*!  
(They have created a special show just for the Nature Science Club.)
5. Family sign-up for leading club meetings in our new co-op format
6. Short hike to MSU Dairy Store &/or Children’s Garden

Where: MSU Planetarium
When: Saturday 27 January 2018
Time: 1-4pm (we will meet at the MSU planetarium)
Bring: Warm outdoor clothing for the solar system game
Also bring: at least one adult with a child

Bring: Hiking gear*
Also bring: at least one adult with a child

Our Agenda:
1. Gathering at the library of Fenner Nature Center @ 1pm  
2. Outdoors: kids' choice games 
3. Indoors: Snack (provided by Foods for Living)
4. Chatting about future club meeting topics & stewardship projects
5. Outdoors: Hike on Fenner's Trails, testing 
our prototype QR code course!

4. Choosing topic for next meeting & drafting proposal for QR code stewardship project
5. Outdoors: Hike on Fenner's Trails, making note via GPS of possible QR code sign locations.  Hike direction will be kids' choice :-).

2. Outdoors: updated running, flitting, & chirping bird ID games
3. Indoors: (2pm) Snack (provided by Foods for Living) with
vote on July meeting topic, book read-aloud &/or chat about board membership for children & adults and 501c3 non-profit steps
4. Learning about a few of Michigan's 400+ bird species
5. How to use Bird-related Citizen Science Monitoring Sites
6. Distributing Bird ID take-home mini-guide
7. Outdoors: (3pm) Hike to listen for birds in a multi-ecosystem nature area, including time to play & explore outdoors.

When: Saturday 22 April 2017
Time: 1-4pm
Bring: Hiking gear* 
Also bring: at least one adult with a child

Our Agenda:
Let’s support Harris Nature Center this Halloween! 

We will meet at Harris Nature Center from 1-4pm to enjoy a Halloween Fun House,
Pumpkin Decorating, Crafts, Hayrides through the woods, a Friendly Forest Hike,
Campfire Stories, & Marshmallow Roasting.  We will provide healthy snacks
sponsored by Foods for Living.
​(Meet us by the campfire about 130pm for food.)
