Our Agenda:
1. Gathering at Lake Lansing South Playground at 7pm
2. Bat Echolocation Games (once children have had some free playtime)
3. Snack (provided by Foods for Living) with bat book(s) reading aloud
4. Learning to identify Michigan's 9 Bat Species (with bat costumes & bat poems – or slides & bat matching games)
5. Learning to use Bat Detectors
6. Hiking around park & listening to local foraging bats with Bat Detectors
Where: Lake Lansing Park South
When: Saturday 18 June 2016
Time: 7-10pm
Bring: Hiking gear* & bug repellent
Also bring: at least one adult with a child
This post is a bit later than usual, but to help us plan enough snacks & materials for your family, if possible, please RSVP by Friday 17 June 2016 @ noon via blog comment @ http://naturescienceclub.weebly.com
or email @ [email protected]
Note: If you came to the Bats of Michigan program last year, you are encouraged to attend this special evening meeting. How much do you remember? Do you remember all 9 Michigan Bats? Would you like to borrow a bat detector to listen to live bats?
*‘Hiking gear’ can be as simple as old sneakers, shoes, or boots that you are comfortable walking 1-2 miles in, and that you don’t mind getting muddy or wet, if there is mud or water on the trails. It’s also a great idea to bring sunblock (& bug repellent of some kind!).
