6. Outdoors: Water Test Kit Practice
7. Short hike to a multi-ecosystem nature area, including time to play & explore outdoors. We will take water samples at a local lake to submit to the WWMDC.
Where: Haslett Public Library
When: Saturday 6 September 2014
Time: 1-4pm (we will leave for hike at about 3pm)
Bring: Hiking gear* & bug repellent (& a mobile computing device, if you have one)
Also bring: at least one adult with a child
To be sure there are enough snacks & materials for your family, if possible, please RSVP by Friday 5 September 2014 @ noon via comments to this blog or
Via [email protected] or [email protected]
*‘Hiking gear’ can be as simple as old sneakers, shoes, or boots that you are comfortable walking 1-2 miles in, and that you don’t mind getting muddy or wet, if there is mud or water on the trails. It’s also a great idea to bring sunblock (& bug repellent of some kind!), and a hat can also help protect from the sun. Finally, a water bottle for yourself and child(ren) is important. A small backpack or other easy-to-carry bag to hold the sunblock, bug repellent, hat, and water is very helpful.
